Tomorrow Ubuntu will release the beta of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Hardy Heron according to ReleaseSchedule. That means now is the right time to upgrade my Gutsy Gibbon laptop to daily Hardy since it will be updated to Beta tonight. So I spent 2 hours today for downloading alternate cdimage and upgrading my laptop. The cdimage was downloading through jigdo because I downloaded Alpha 6 cdimage from mirror nearby. And the upgrade was done by running cdromupgrade which started update-manager with proper arguments. Everything went very well. Only problem I found is python-wxgtk2.8 in #203740.

I don't know different of Gutsy and Hardy but one thing I noticed is screen resolution. In Hardy suddenly after first boot, my screen resolution is automatically detected correctly for dual display, says 2880x1050. Anyway, I didn't plug the external monitor yet so I just manually changed it back to 1440x1050. It worked seamlessly. Note that my graphics card is ATI!

VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300]

Another good thing I noticed is graphical fsck. At least, it looked better than text if you are afraid of text.
